Sometimes just one moment, one conversation, one person can change your life or the course of it, forever. I have had several of those moments. My life, overall, has been a whole series of moments, conversations, and people. After experiencing that life-changing moment – running out of gas literally and figuratively – I felt such immense gratitude to those who have been a part of my journey to date (and still do)! I had written this note, and sent it to the many incredible women and men who I have crossed paths with throughout my life. People truly make the difference.

January 29, 2015. Subject Line: Year of Gratitude. Lifetime of Thanks…

Dear amazing women and men in my life,

Life is never easy all the time (who’s kidding, this is even true day to day, second to second!) but you have made those hard and often challenging times or moments fun by providing laughter, smiles, support, inspiration, and encouragement when needed most – often directly but also often without even knowing it. I am forever grateful and cannot thank you enough. Many of you we don’t see often or enough, but just knowing you are out there is amazing and when I do see you brightens up my day. It’s like seeing an old friend, one you knew for years (even if we haven’t!!). And when I think of the ways in which you have helped above, again, many times without even knowing, it makes my day and heart a lot brighter…and it really inspires my work and involvement in the community.

I have been in a deep reflective mode the last few months, and especially after a quite terrifying experience a few weeks a go at night, followed by a really early morning inspiring session on Tuesday morning with a group of incredibly inspiring women. One of the first questions we were asked was what is something we are grateful for? I immediately thought of all the people I had met and had the opportunity to meet through my children, volunteer work, professional work, and personal and educational life. I also thought of all those people who I don’t know, but have made my day brighter just by smiling and being extra thoughtful and kind, or openly sharing their thoughts. People really do and truly make the difference. You have all made a difference. I thank you so much for that.

Feel honoured and forever grateful to have crossed paths with each and every one of you!!

Much love, Geetha

Be kind and compassionate to those you meet. It goes a long way, and can make all the difference in the world. It definitely has in mine.

PS: If you don’t believe, or don’t know how, you made a difference in my life, I’d love to share how you did.
